Dudhsagar in Monsoon: India's Most Dramatic Waterfall

The name means Sea of Milk. In July and August, you understand why. Dudhsagar Falls on the Mandovi River throws so much water off the Western Ghats that the mist reaches you long before the falls come into view.

Monsoon Dudhsagar is completely different from winter Dudhsagar. In winter it is beautiful. In monsoon it is terrifying. The sound is like standing inside thunder.

Getting There

Dudhsagar is 60km from Margao. GoaTaxis operates Dudhsagar day trips in Innova Crystas and Scorpios with experienced drivers who know the jungle roads. Trips depart early (6am) to beat the crowds and afternoon closures.
